What Attracts Most - SMM Or SEM?

If you have an online business, you will definitely have a website to guarantee the presence on the internet. But having the website is not all. You will need customers in order to get the business moving. And, in order to get the customers, you will need visitors.



While each one of these internet marketing techniques are independent in application, they are all really part of a group of practices that makes individuals, businesses, organizations and brands more visible on the web. Whether you use SEO, SEM, SMM, SMO or all of these, knowing how each is different from the other is essential to understanding how to apply these techniques for your internet marketing success.



However, I feel strongly that it's not a good idea for people to start chasing followers just to have followers or start to use Twitter or any other Social Media website just because it is the "IN" thing to do. I believe that by doing so they may start to lose that sense of individual and group connectivity or "quality" that attracted everyone to Social Media in the first place.



Let's say you want your website to come up first if someone is searching for clothing. First you would have to define the keywords that will be used during a search in order to display your website in the results page. You then pay the search engine to have your website displayed first every time someone put in keywords such as trendy clothes.



This article will explain why search engine marketing should be a critical piece of your online marketing strategy. Well, these strategies are still in use, but they are time consuming process and it lacked direct communication with potential customers. Whereas, using social media tools like Facebook and Twitter, we can have direct communication with our potential customer segment.



Each of them are capitalizing and investing considerable amounts of their resources, time mostly, in taking advantage of the open natured social events, conversations, information sharing, mutual promotion and exposure, that did not usually take place B.T. (Before Twitter).
